Chapter 7

Sometimes I think that people can be nice if they really try. For example, Rayonetta was never nice to Will but now she’s warming up to us because she is literally going to be on a whole trip with us. “Oh yeah, so this is my brother, you probably already assumed that though.” Corrin tells me. I never knew that! Is she ok with me being friends with her brother? Is she extra over protective over her brother? I don’t know but I know I shouldn’t be worrying this much. “So, what did you do back in the human world Byleth?” Will asks me. “Oh, well I was actually pretty shy, especially at my school. No one ever really liked my hair because they thought it looked like barf. My brother, Noah would always get in trouble for stuff because he always did things without my mom’s permission. My mom is an editor, she edits books so that people can publish them.” I explain.

“Well, I like your hair.” Will compliments. Awkward silence follows. “Um, thanks.” I say after a while. “Yup, no problem.” I can’t tell his expression because he’s in dragon form but I can tell that Rayonetta’s horn is broken. I know she’s not the nicest person to hang out with but I decide to give her a compliment. “Hey Rayonetta, I just wanted to say thanks for you know trying your hardest in defeating the element dragon. Even though I wasn’t there, I still think it’s pretty cool that you stood up to it.” I feel guilty because I could do that to a dragon, I could break a dragon’s horn and they could never be the same again. “Thanks Byleth.” Rayonetta says blankly. “Um so, don’t freak out but I’m actually an element dragon.” I say as calmly as possible. Rayonetta stares at me like I’m crazy. “Alright then, show me.” Rayonetta says. I think of water, fire, earth, and wind. Every element comes out of either my palm, my hand, or my arm and Rayonetta’s face shows that she actually believes me.

“So you are going on this trip with us and you're probably more dangerous than the trip itself?” Rayonetta backs away in the air and we all stop. “She will shoot you with fire tasers if you leave the trip.” Will says blankly. Rayonetta laughs. “Well really, I guess I should be afraid then.” She starts flying again and we all resume our flight to our destination. “So, we’re going to a place called the unknown territory. Trust me, it’s a lot less intimidating than it sounds. What we’re all going to do is split up into groups of two and go into the territory. I have two walkie-talkies so we can communicate with each other if we need help or if we have found the victim. Sounds good?” Will asks. “One question, how are me and Corrin supposed to work together? I work solo.” Rayonetta says. “Well, you're just assuming that me and Byleth want to go together?” Will asks. “Um, what do you think? You guys are like element dragon buddies so…” Rayonetta gestures to the both of us. “Ok then Rayonetta, since Corrin is good at finding clues and you want to work alone then both of you will work solo and me and Byleth we go on a team. Sounds good?” William says. Corrin rolls her eyes then flies ahead. We all approach a gigantic forest with trees so high that they touch the clouds. I see a ferocious venus fly trap that is ready to pounce on a nearby fly. “Alright, everyone welcome to the unknown jungle.” William says.
