Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Now back in Byleth’s point of view

I know that Will is an element dragon, I just know it. I mean, why else would he not be affected by the power surge? After we get back home from the twilight tribe, we thankfully see that everyone is ok and no one is groaning as they were earlier. William walks toward a group of his friends while I rush over to see Corrin and Amelia. “Amelia! Are you ok?” I ask her. “I’m ok, what were you doing while our power was being drained?” Amelia asks. I don’t know what to say. “I was midway walking toward the concession stand but collapsed on the ground. Will saw me and came as fast he could because I had fallen on cement. But we were both ok in the end.” I lie.

I’ve never lied like this before, I guess I just figured out that I’m good at it. “Oh, for some reason I remember you leaning over me, asking what was going on and not being affected by the power drain. After that, I went unconscious. I think everybody else did too. The power drain was too much for us.” Amelia explains. “Well, you must have been hallucinating. I was on the ground the whole time. Come with me, you can spend the night in my guest bedroom for the night because it looks like you're exhausted.” I lie again. I decide to check on Corrin, “Corrin, are you okay?” I ask her. “Yes, I think so. Where were you?” She asks me. I don’t want to tell her in front of her friends so I gesture to talk to her in private. We walk away from Corrin’s group of friends. “What did you do already?” She asks me. I explain how me and Will weren’t affected by the power drain and how we both went to the twilight tribe to see who or what was draining the power. I told her all about Megan and what Megan had said about the man in the black cloak. “I’m coming with you. There’s no way that you’re not going without me.”Corrin says seriously. I nod. “I’ll ask Will who we should bring on the trip and when we’re going. We’ll let you know what happens.” I say. I walk away toward Will and let him know the Corrin will be going on the trip. “You're coming, right?

I mean as the tribal leader, you need to go.” I say, trying to cover up the fact that I want him to go. “I mean, if you're going, I’ll go. Just because I need to supervise you as an element dragon.” He grins at me. Before I’m about to tell him something else, Rayonetta pops out from a bush like she’s been there the whole time. “No one’s going on a trip without me, the wonderful and terrifying Rayonetta. Plus, someone’s got to look for trouble while everyone else is partying, I will make sure that I protect everyone.” Rayonetta declares proudly. “Well I guess there’s nothing stopping you.” Will says. I pull Will aside. “Whoever is on the trip will have to know who I am and I don’t know if I can trust Rayonetta with it or any other people that come on  the trip.” I worry. “Byleth, it’s ok, I will tell all those who go on the trip that if they tell anyone about who you are, you will shoot them with fire tasers” Will laughs. I remember at the door when Meagan answered and Will had said that me and him were friends. Wasn’t that just because we spent a day together? Maybe I can ask him about it. “Hey um Will” I get Will’s attention from him looking at a nearby sunset building. “So, um I couldn’t help but notice that when we were at Megan’s house you introduced us as friends. I’m fine with that, actually I’m really fine with that but I just wanted to be sure that we’re friends that we’re not just like I don’t know people that barely know each other and don’t like to hang out with each other.” I try to make it sound as best as I can but it comes out as rude. “Oh, well I thought we could be considered friends because I like hanging out with you.” Will smiles. “Ok, good well we’d better get going then, our wings aren’t going to flap themselves!”
