Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Now in William’s point of view

I look at everyone and then I look at Byleth. Her teal hair catches in the sunlight and our eyes meet for a moment but I run over to her before I can even think of what to do. “Follow me, take this and put the hood on.” I say strictly. “Your one of those element things too?” Byleth asks. I don’t respond. “Now is not the time for that, we’re going to turn into sunset dragons and fly over to the other tribes as soon as possible. Once we get to the twilight tribe, we’ll see if anyone is outside. If there’s not anyone outside, then hopefully the power drain will have stopped but if not, then we’ll figure what to do from there. The reason why you aren’t affected is because you are an element dragon and I-well that’s classified.” I try to sound as brave as I can but really, I’m quite worried. “Will, it’s going to be fine don’t worry. We can do this.” Byleth grasps my arm. We turn into dragons and fly toward the twilight tribe. “Why don’t you judge me for who I am? Corrin said that people might kill me if they found out that I’m an element dragon.” Blythe asks.

I think about it, like I always say ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover’ I decide to say that.“I don’t like judging people because you can’t just judge a book by it’s cover. For example you, if people found out you were an element dragon, they would only see you as a dangerous character but really you're a nice, kind person that doesn’t do any harm to anyone.” I hope that didn’t sound weird to her. “Oh, that makes sense.” She says blankly and we continue in silence. Once we get to the twilight tribe, I already know something’s off. No one’s out partying under the stars and no one is star gazing either. “Since there’s no one out, let’s knock on a door or two to see if they saw what happened. The twilight tribe is always huge on celebrating at night, it’s not normal for them to not be out at all.” I walk toward a cottage that is painted blue with little white dots. I knock three times and ring the doorbell just to make sure whoever is inside hears me. “Hello? What do you want?” A young woman answers the door. “Hello, I’m William: Leader of the sunset dragon tribe and this is my friend, Byleth. Our tribe is losing power because someone from either your tribe or someone else’s tribe was out at the wrong time. As you see, we won’t get affected by the stars here because it’s not our tribe and we wouldn’t get affected there because we had shields and were never directly below the stars.” I explain. The young lady beckons us inside and gives us what she calls, “Nightfall cookies.” Which are cookies with stars all over with them.

“Well, what I’m about to tell you is something I only saw out the window so it may not be completely accurate. What I saw was I identified as a man with a black cloak. I assumed he was one of our tribe because he was wearing black but I couldn’t really see from here. Anyway, he took a red sword out and fled even more north toward the unknown territory. For some reason, sunset colors started going into his sword-I think that was draining the power of your tribe. That’s all I know.” She sets down her mug that she’d been drinking from. “Thank you so much, and I never caught your name.” William shakes her hand. “I’m Megan, have a wonderful flight home.” She insists on giving us even more nightfall cookies to take home. We launch into the sky after finishing most of the cookies. “Will, I think we have to follow that man and figure out what he’s doing. I somehow have a feeling that this isn’t just a small crime, it’s a calling for war.”
