Chapter 2
Chapter 2
The girl turns back into a dragon and gestures for me to get on her back. I hesitate and then decide to ask one question. “Where’s my brother and mom? Are they ok? Am I going to be ok? Do I turn into a dragon and I don’t know it? Do I have magic like you? Why is no one out playing? What’s the mission you came on? Am I really that worthy to go to this Stathford place?” I didn’t mean to ask all those questions, they just came out all at once. Corrin walks over to me gingerly in her dragon form. “To answer all of your questions, everything is going to be ok. Stathford is for dragons that help defeat evil. Your mother and brother are ok. They are just doing their normal things. You my friend are a sunset dragon, just like me. Sunset dragons are the colors of the sunset, pink like me, orange, yellow, or blue. You are most likely blue because your hair is blue.” Corrin says. “It’s actually teal and I’m actually a dragon? Like you? Do I have powers? Am I magical?” I am so excited now, I’m a dragon!
“Think of what you most hate, it can be anything, your grades, how other people act to you, anything. Mine is that I can’t get ranked leader of our tribe because my brother is the leader. If you think of what you most dislike, you will become a dragon.” I steady my feet and close my eyes. I think of the girls at school, they never know what it’s like to be me, never! I look down at myself and I am a steel dragon, just like corrin but I am teal, just like my hair. “What? I can talk? This is so cool!” I flap my wings up and down and I propel in the air, yelling happily. Corrin comes up with me and she says that we need to go north to Stathford. “Our powers are always intertwined with water like me, I can shoot water from my hands in elf form. Others can take water from a river and shoot it at their enemies. All sunset dragons can hold their breath underwater for as long as they need but they will get tired after five hours underwater.” Corrin explains. “Oh cool! Can I try right now?” I ask. “Sure! This time, you have to think of the ocean. Think of waves, very calming.” Corrin instructs. I think of waves but then my mind turns to all the elements, wind, earth, fire, and water. Wind shoots out of my finger, fire shoots out of my hand, plants sprout and shoot out from my arm and water shoots out from my other hand. “Whoa! Is that supposed to happen?” I ask as all the elements disappear into the sky. Corrin stays quiet, her wings flapping gently in the air.
“What? Did I do something wrong?” I ask, watching what she does next. “Blythe, you're not a normal sunset dragon. You’re an element dragon. Element’s dragon’s are so rare that only every one thousand years one is born. The last time one was born, they destroyed our whole tribe and drained all power. After that it took another five years for the sunset dragon tribe and every dragon tribe to rebirth. You aren’t just water, you are fire, earth, wind, and water. No one can know that you're an element dragon. If they know, then you will most likely be killed because people are always scared that the thing that happened last time would happen again.” Corrin looks down sadly. I stare at her. “You’re kidding” I say, maybe Corrin is more humorous than I thought she was. “I’m not kidding blythe.” She stares straight at me and I know that’s the truth. “I’m supposed to be your guide and I could get in huge trouble if someone found out that you are an element dragon. We need to go to the sunset tribe, it’s getting late and my brother will get very angry if I come home after sunset.” Corrin flies silently for the rest of the way. We get to the sunset tribe and I don’t expect it to be so huge. Every building is painted in the sunset colors orange, blue, yellow ,or teal. People walk everywhere but they remind me of elves because of their abnormally large ears and the fact that they are pointy as well.
We land and Corrin tells me to think of something peaceful so that I can turn back into a human. “You’re not human, you know that right? You’re an elf.” Corrin grins at me and touches her pointy ears and I touch mine. They are pointy too. “Again Blythe, you can’t tell anyone what you are ok?” Corrin whispers. “Can’t tell anyone what?” A young man with the same colored eyes as Corrin stands behind us, his face filled with curiosity.
Very exciting! It's nice to have a book that I can read that I know my friend made π (one of my friends makes a comic about her made Pixies, but doesn't show it to us, I think she said that some of it is embarrassing for her or something?) Point is, I'm very happy i can read your book! - Hailey or Koala π
