Chapter 11
Chapter 11
I realize I am still in dragon form and decide to turn back to an elf before she thinks we’re going to kill her or something. Will does the same. “Can we just pick some fruit here? Someone is trying to hunt down this girl so that she can get her on the evil side so we need to hurry.” Will explains and points to me. “Fine by me, just pick the right fruit tree. If you don’t, then you will die.” Ivory states. “Can’t we just pick another fruit forest without the eat and die rule?” I whisper to Will. Will shakes his head, “This is the only one for miles around, you would starve to death if we waited any longer.” He replies. “So just pick a fruit? Any fruit?” I ask, nervously. “Yes mam, it has to be the perfect fruit and there are only two perfect fruits in all of this forest so choose wisely.” Ivory always ends her sentences with ‘choose wisely’ and I can’t seem to know why. I search through trees and pick the ones that look the most perfect to me, then set them on the ground. Once I have separated the bad from the good fruit, I sit down with the good fruit and wait for Will to finish. He sits down next to me and we both search through our good fruit to find the perfect looking one. The funny thing is, is that they aren’t normal human fruit, they are purple and even pink as well as blue, and black. I hope they taste good because if I did all this work for nothing then I am going to be really ticked. I finally find one without any specks, spots, or anything bad and bring it to Ivory. “Does this look okay?” I ask her, showing the pastel blue fruit I had found. “I cannot tell you, it is for you to decide.” Ivory smiles slyly.
Will finds his perfect fruit and just before we’re about to take a bite, Ivory yells “Stop!” We both turn around to see her rushing toward us, ripping the fruit out of our hands. “I’m sorry, I was cursed by Lamia to always stand by this fruit forest and watch people die when they pick the wrong fruit! For years and years I have had to watch people die, and have had to hide the bones in a nearby bush. Lamia knows I hate to just watch people die so this was my worst punishment! I have mustered up enough power to break the curse...but only for a little while.” Ivory bursts. She hands us both each a fruit. “Eat these, they are the perfect fruit.” I look at Will, both of us thinking the same thing, should we trust her? “How can we trust you if you might still be under the curse and tricking us?” Will suspects. “I promise you that these are the perfect fruit with my life.” Ivory places her right hand over her heart to show us that she is right. I sigh and take a bite of the now hot pink fruit that Ivory gave me. It tastes amazing, kind of like how a cookie’s n’ cream milkshake would taste in the human world. Will bites into his as well and his face fills with pure delight. “Mmmmmm, this is so good!” I take multiple bites of the fruit until the whole thing’s gone. “I knew you would like it, you may now continue on your journey.” Ivory smiles.
“But, what about you? Are you going to come with us? If the girl that's trying to find us finds you, there’s no telling what she can do to you.” Will warns. Ivory nods slowly. “Are you sure? I couldn’t impose. I’ve never been able to see any of the tribes except for well...never mind. I’d love to come!” She squeals loudly and jumps up and down. “Ok then, as long as it’s okay with Byleth then you are coming with us.” I nod, showing Will my approval. We take off into the air but forget if Ivory can do this or not. I swoop back down. “Ivory, can you turn into a dragon?” I ask her. She nods and her whole body expands into a steel form just like us, but instead she has rainbow colors all over her. Pearls line her wings and feathers wrap around her horns. I look up at Will but his concentration is on Ivory. I scowl. Ivory climbs into the air with me and we both reunite with Will at the tree line. We start to flap our wings, moving forward. “So what’s up with the pretty dragon form?” Will asks. Pretty? Seriously? Am I not pretty enough? I scrape myself on my leg. This is nonsense, Will won’t get in the way of this trip. “I like to decorate myself with the prettiest of things because you never know when it can come in handy.” She flies up to Will. I hear Ivory ask something about what we are doing on our trip. “Well, Byleth had a friend named Rayonetta and she turned on us so we’re running away from her. We also are trying to get to the daylight tribe. I’m a tribal leader” Will explains. “Well, who is more trustworthy than the tribal leader? Glad you’re on the trip, you probably know a lot more than me about the tribes.” Ivory says. I scowl again, this is going to be a long fly.
