Chapter 10

It takes so long to get to the daylight tribe that I have to refill my pouch with leaves for Mavi fifteen times. Mavi does get in the way sometimes, he sometimes crawls out of the pouch and jumps on my back for a ride but eventually squeals loudly because he thinks he will fall off. He’s worth keeping though, he’s the cutest! I honestly don’t think that Will is the biggest fan of Mavi. Every time I go down to get new leaves, Will always mutters something like “If you hadn't gotten Mavi in the first place, we wouldn’t have to stop so much.” But I secretly know that he’s quite fond of Mavi except for the many times we have to stop for him. Something rumbles. “Mavi? Are you hungry again? If we have to stop one more time I will-” And then I realize that the rumbling is my own stomach. “Will? I think we need to stop for some food. My stomach is angry at me.” I say. “Sure! The only problem is that there is only one place to get food, and that’s the Fruit Forest. It’s just a couple of miles from here, so hopefully you can make it there?” Will asks hopefully. “Ok, alright.” I’m disappointed about more flying until food, but at least there is food. I remember sowing some leaves together with Will’s help to make a solid cup with a lid to help store water for the rest of the trip.

Now, I feel the water sloshing and gushing in my pouch. I stick a claw in there and pry out the leaf canteen. The canteen has a visitor, Mavi is swimming inside of the water, soaking up all the water in his fur. There is only about 3 inches left of water, only enough to supply for a couple of hours when we wanted to make it last for one day. “Will! Mavi got into the water!” I yell. Will turns around. “Ok, we’ll stop at a stream when we get to the fruit forest. For now, let’s just ration the water. I’ll take a few sips if you don’t mind.” He flies over to me and waits until I have drunk my share of water. “Ok, I’m done here you go.” I hand the canteen to him and he looks at Mavi. “Mischievous little thing.” He murmurs under his breath. “Byleth, I never got your age and you never got mine. And, I don't know anything else like your favorite color or...” Will inquires as he takes a drink. “Oh, I know all about you Will. Courtesy of your sister.” I grin. “Oh, and you’re in highschool so I’m assuming that you’re 17?” He suspects. “Yup, and you’re the same age as me. Speaking of which, is there a highschool here in the dragon tribes or in Stathford?” I ask. “I am 17. I wish my sister hadn’t told you that, she tends to not care about whether I want to share my personal information or not. There is a school. But it’s not really a school. It’s more of a training center. There’s different groups, each one has a training leader. Each day, we learn something new to do with our powers. When we turn fifteen though, we start combat training and when you’re eighteen, you are done training for good.” Will explains. “Oh, so I will never get to train?” I ask sadly. “Well, I would say you should train but you know, you being an element dragon and stuff- everyone would know who you are and what that means.” He points his index finger and guides it down toward the ground.

I nod. “We’re here, there’s a lot of dangerous things here so just stick close to me so that if one of us is in danger, the other can save that person.” Will remarks. We swoop down toward the ground where brightly colored fruits hang on lush green trees. The trees are probably the shortest in the forest, the ones that we stopped at earlier were probably quadrupled in size. “Pick and choose my friends, only the wisest survive here.” I turn around to see a girl maybe a little younger than me with green hair that has pink rubber bands wrapped around different parts of hair. Kind of like a braid, but instead with short parts of hair like spheres put between the rubber bands. She is wearing a pink crop top and a dark teal long skirt that only covers one side of her leg. “Hello, my name is Ivory.” She says.

Here is a picture of Ivory below:
