Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Blythe stared at her locker, the words menacing. How is your barf-colored hair doing? Ok, let me explain I’m Blythe and I go to Golden Valley Highschool. I just dyed my hair teal because that is my favorite color. Other people think...otherwise. Girls at my school tease me for my “Barf-colored hair just because I’m shy. They target me and I can’t really do anything about it. I guess I’m just the one girl that usually gets bullied by other people. I don’t exactly know how teachers or the principal can just go around saying the people who bully me can’t bully me. I mean I am a girl in highschool and they really don’t need to do that for me. The words on my locker were written on a post-it-note- the pack of post-it-notes I had just gotten at the supply store yesterday for school. I checked my backpack in the small pocket where I had them last, they weren’t there. “Looking for something?” I turn around to see Nikki and her friends with my post-it-note pack. I turn around, “I guess I can just buy another one” I murmur. The hall monitor walks by and deals with them but I don’t turn around to see them, I just walk toward the school door. I’m always telling my little brother who’s in 8th grade (Not really little but littler than me) that highschool isn’t just a breeze through like he thinks. When I tell him that he just scoffs and says “Sis, you're not popular, but I am so I’ll obviously have a better time in highschool.” He then walks away to eat food or something like that.I walk home. Mom always expects me to take the bus but Nikki and her friends are always on the bus and they always stop at Nikki’s house after school so if I went on the bus, they would all be there, all the time. I walk toward our house on 84th street. Taking the house key from under the doormat, I unlock the house and walk inside. My brother, Noah isn’t here yet and my mom as expected isn’t home from work yet. I sit down and eat the lunch that mom had prepared for me that morning. I stare at the ground and think of why Noah wouldn’t be home. He either one-Went over to his friend’s house to play video games without mom’s permission. Or two- He went out to get food somewhere with his save money which mom also would not approve of. I sigh, this day is just like every other day after I get home from school: Boring. I suddenly hear a noise. It’s cooing makes me think of a hurt bird. I get up. “Hello?” I turn to one side, then the other. The cooing sound is everywhere, it’s not even coming from one direction. I start toward my room but then see out the window that a ginormous owl is in front of the house. I rub my eyes, thinking it’s just a hallucination but it’s not...it’s real. I take one step toward the stairs and it takes one step forward. I take one step toward the window and it takes one step backward. I frown, “Hey, I won’t hurt you, I am just going to call my mom and everything will be ok for you, alright?” I try to say as calmly as I can. I take a step toward the house phone and another step and another, it doesn’t even move. I start going faster toward the phone until I’m a foot away from it. I grab it hastily and dial my mom. I wait for a little while and realize that she won’t pick up. After that, I decide to call 911, the number that one should always go to when in an emergency. No one answers. I know that 911 is available anytime so I am quite confused about what’s going on. I look past the owl but no one is outside.
Our neighbors aren’t having a BBQ like they usually do and Kailey isn’t playing hopscotch like usual either. Something’s definitely wrong and I just know it. My heart drops when I see a dragon-like character descend from the sky. The figure is pink but looks like it is made of steel and has a face that is quite menacing. The creature pierces the owl with one of it’s horns and lands victoriously onto the ground. Suddenly, the dragon turns into a girl with a sudden wave of water. She has pink hair, a pink and black suit and no shoes. She cracks her knuckles, “I can’t believe it, she’s been so cranky lately, I hate to do that to her.” The girl takes a terrifying-sized sword out of her suit and notices me at the window, listening to her. I walk out the door and stay as close as I can to the door, I just saw this girl evolve from a dragon to a girl so I don’t want to get too close. “Oh hi! You must be the girl I was sent on a mission to find! I’m Corrin and that’s my pet, Astra. Don’t worry though, she’s really sweet and only likes to stand in front of people’s houses, she finds it fascinating. Anyway, come along with me and we’ll take you to Stathford.”
I sure hope Corrin ends up being a good friend. Seems like Blythe could use one seeing as the girls at school are so mean...
ReplyDeleteHailey: I could imagine how cute Astra would look! This is making me wanna draw a picture of Corrin with Astra 😄
ReplyDeleteFeel free to Hailey! I'll draw Astra eventually but for now I 'm working on the characters :)
DeleteBrooklyn: that would be adorable! 😍 love your chapter 😝 I would like to know how Nikki looks though
ReplyDeleteIt's best to ignore those kind of mean girls. So Corrin has a mission to rescue Blythe? Will Blythe go with her? Does she have a choice? Very descriptive language, Kendall. Keep up the good work.
